Mercedes is gearing up to launch the AMG GLE 53 Coupe in India on September 23, 2020. Bookings for the high-performance SUV will commence from September 8 (11.00 am onwards).
As the name suggests, the GLE 53 Coupe is based on the GLE. It features a coupe-like roofline that gives it a more sporty appearance. Besides this, the wheelbase has been shortened by 60 mm compared to the regular GLE.
On the outside, it gets the sporty AMG treatment with a different grille and larger vents at the front as well as a diffuser with quad exhausts at the back. The SUV rides on 20-inch alloy wheels. On the inside, it gets a 3-spoke AMG steering wheel with aluminium shift paddles and carbon fibre trim on the door pads and dashboard. It has a touchscreen with the MBUX infotainment system.
The AMG GLE 53 Coupe is powered by a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder petrol engine that produces 429 BHP @ 6,100 rpm and 520 Nm @ 1,800-5,800 rpm. The engine features a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that delivers an additional boost of 22 BHP and 250 Nm.
Mercedes claims that the SUV can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. The SUV has all-wheel drive and rides on air suspension.
