A long stint of testing, spy shots, speculation, and Maybach is now all set to make its return. Daimler will revive Maybach as a sub brand that will be based on the current generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class to begin with. Initial reports suggested that the brand would debut with the S 600. It has now been revealed that the German car maker will also launch the S 500 and S 400 4MATIC under the revived moniker.
The range topping S 600 is powered by a 6.0-litre, V12 engine that is expected to produce a maximum power output of around 530 bhp. The S 500 is powered by a 4.7-litre V8 that produces 455 bhp of power and 700 Nm of torque. The S 400 4MATIC is propelled by a 3.0-litre V6 that makes 333 bhp of power and 480 Nm of torque, driven to all four wheels.
The S 600 will make its debut on December 18th, 2014. The limousine will be priced below the discontinued Maybach 57 which started at around $380,000.
