Maruti WagonR EV spied testing

Thanks to BHPian Reinhard and FIAT3031 for sharing this information with other enthusiasts.

Earlier this week, a camouflaged test mule of the WagonR had been spotted testing. After having a closer look at the spy images, it appears that this could be an all-electric version of the car.

The test mule has a redesigned front fascia but its grille is completely covered, while the air dam inlet has been left open. It seems that the car does not have an exhaust pipe either. The shape of the tail lamp cluster is similar to that of the regular WagonR. However, it uses LEDs that require less power instead of conventional bulbs. This suggests that it might be an all-electric version of the WagonR and not just a facelift.

Maruti Suzuki plans to launch its first electric vehicle in the Indian market in 2020. Reports suggest that the carmaker's EVs could be sold through the Nexa retail channel.
