Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 facelift launched at Rs. 2.49 lakh

Maruti Suzuki has launched a facelifted version of the Alto 800 in India. The car is priced between Rs. 2.49 lakh and Rs. 3.76 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The refreshed Alto 800 gets new colours, a restyled front fascia, reworked interiors and more features.

The Alto's front fascia features new headlights, a revised bumper and a new grille. The exterior length of the vehicle has been increased by 35 mm. The lower grille is now wider and the bumper gets housings for a pair of fog lamps. The car comes in two new colours - Mojito Green and Cerulean Blue. Older colours including Superior White, Silky Silver, Granite Grey and Blazing Red have been carried forward.

The interiors of the Alto 800 get a new dark grey colour along with new fabric for the seats and door trim. The car also gets rear seats with integrated headrests.

The facelifted Alto 800 uses the same 796cc, 3-cylinder, petrol engine and 5-speed manual gearbox as the outgoing car. The engine develops 47 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 69 Nm of torque @ 3,500 rpm.

Maruti claims that the refreshed Alto 800 delivers a fuel efficiency (ARAI-certified) of 24.7 kpl - around 9% higher than the earlier version. In CNG mode the car returns 33.44 km/kg - an improvement of around 10%.

The Alto 800 is available with a driver airbag as an option from the base variant onwards. A passenger side ORVM is now a part of standard equipment. New features introduced in the car include remote keyless entry, rear door child lock and storage spaces like rear bottle holder and co-driver side map pocket. The car also gets a new brake booster.

The Alto is one of the most popular cars in India. It has been the best-selling model in the country for more than 12 years in a row. It is the only Indian car brand to cross the 30 lakh sales milestone. It accounts for 18 - 20% of Maruti Suzuki's sales in India.
