Maruti starts exporting Super Carry to South Africa, Tanzania

Maruti Suzuki has dispatched the first batch of 100 units of the India-made Maruti Suzuki Super Carry light commercial vehicle for shipping to South Africa and Tanzania.

For these two markets, the Super Carry gets a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder G12B engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It produces 71 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 101 Nm @ 3,000 rpm.

Maruti Suzuki plans to export the Super Carry to SAARC nations as well. Based on the feedback received, it plans to explore opportunities to export the vehicle to other markets.

The Super Carry is expected to be launched in India in the second half of 2016. It will be powered by the E08 diesel engine that does duty in the Celerio hatchback. This motor is a twin-cylinder unit, which makes 47 BHP and 125 Nm of torque.

Maruti Suzuki will be setting up a separate retail channel in India for the Super Carry.
