Maruti S-Cross specifications and variants revealed

Maruti Suzuki has revealed the S-Cross, its rival for compact SUVs such as the Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and upcoming Hyundai Creta. It will be sold through Maruti's NEXA dealership network, which will be used to retail the company's premium models. The dealerships under the NEXA brand will have a more upmarket ambiance and a different dealer standard than the current showrooms.

The S-Cross measures 4,300 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width and 1,590 mm in height. It will be available in five body colours - Urban Blue, Caffeine Brown, Granite Grey, Premium Silver and Pearl Arctic White.

It has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm and a ground clearance of 180 mm. It will be available with a choice of two Fiat-sourced diesel engines:

  • DDiS 200 - 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, 89 BHP, 200 Nm, 5-speed manual transmission
  • DDiS 320 - 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder, 118 BHP, 320 Nm, 6-speed manual transmission

The DDiS 200 has an ARAI fuel efficiency rating of 23.65 kpl while the DDiS 320 can return 22.7 kpl.

No petrol engine or automatic transmission will be on offer at the time of launch. The car will be available only in front-wheel drive configuration.

Maruti has dropped the LDi, VDi and ZDi variant naming system that has been seen on its other models. The S-Cross will be available in the following variants:

  • DDiS 200 - Sigma, Sigma (O), Delta, Zeta and Alpha
  • DDiS 320 - Delta, Zeta and Alpha
