According to a media report, Maruti will be focusing on the expansion of its CNG vehicle portfolio instead of offering a small diesel engine.
Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director Sales and Marketing, has stated that there is no logic in developing a small diesel engine. He also said that less than 5% cars from the hatchback segment is constituted of diesels. The demand for the oil burner has reduced in sedans and the entry-level SUV segment as well.
