Maruti Ignis: Weird issue with the central locking system

The spare key worked for a few days and suddenly the same issue started in the spare.

Hello People!

I have a rather peculiar problem from my Ignis's central locking. I have two keys. One I use as a primary and other as a back up. The primary remote locking stopped working about 60 days before. When i used the spare, it worked. I though the key fob battery needs replacement. I replaced the battery and it worked. After about a 120 km drive, it did not work. I though it might be key fob issue.

I started used the spare. The spare key worked for a few days and suddenly the same issue started in the spare. It works sometimes, and sometimes it does not. If I press multiple times, the car will get locked/unlocked. This will work smoothly after that. The next day when I try, it will not work. I have to manually use the key to open the door. The alarm starts buzzing. When I turn on the ignition, alarm stops.

I have checked the key fob battery with a multi meter, it shows 3V. My car battery may hardly be a year old. I use the car regular. Is this a Fuse loose connection issue? I tried searching all over the internet, I can only see suggestion to replace the key battery or take it to a ASC.

Here's what BHPian rikhav had to say on the matter:

I am facing this exact problem in my August 2023 Ignis Delta AMT.

It took me by surprise as the keyfob battery does not die so soon and neither was the keyfob damaged.

Exactly like it happened with you, by pressing buttons a few times it started working normally. It worked normally for few days and then the issue recurred a few times. Funny part is it's working absolutely normally since a month. I did not end up trying the spare keyfob.

I even thought of taking the car to the service centre but i knew unless the exact same issue happens in front of the service manager they will maintain that "it's working absolutely fine" & replicating the issue in front of them is next to impossible.
