Maruti to build 4th plant & double annual capacity by 2030

Maruti Suzuki is planning to build a fourth manufacturing unit in India. The carmaker also plans to expand the Gujarat plant to produce another 7,50,000 units annually by 2020.

At present, Maruti operates a total of 3 assembly plants - in Manesar and Gurgaon in the state of Haryana and Hansalpur in the state of Gujarat. It has been reported that the fourth assembly unit, which is expected to be announced around 2025 will have a total capacity of approximately 1.5 million units. While Maruti owns the plants at Manesar and Gurgaon, the Gujarat plant is a 100% subsidiary owned by Suzuki Motor Corporation that makes cars for the Indian company.

Maruti plans to more than double its production capacity - up from 1.75 million to 4.5 million units. The company also aims to sell 3 million units by 2025 and expects its annual sales numbers to reach 5 million units by 2030.

The media report suggests that Maruti is gearing up to launch the next-generation Ciaz mid-size sedan in 2020, which will be produced at the Gujarat plant.
