Maruti Baleno RS: Spec sheet leaked

Maruti Suzuki is expected to introduce the Baleno RS in India soon. Ahead of the official launch, the specification sheet of the car has surfaced, revealing a few details.

This leaked spec sheet confirms that the performance oriented Baleno RS will be powered by a 1.0-litre (998 cc), 3-cylinder, BoosterJet engine, which will develop 100 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and 150 Nm of torque @ 1,700-4,500 rpm. This power output is 10 BHP short of the speculated figure of 110 BHP. Thus, Maruti appears to have detuned the engine for Indian conditions. The spec sheet also confirms that the Baleno RS will be coming with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The leaked images further reveal that the car will have disc brakes all round. Maruti is also likely to tweak the suspension of the car to handle the increased power output. According to the spec sheet, the Baleno RS has 114 mm of ground clearance (laden).

Once launched, the Baleno RS is expected to compete against the likes of the VW Polo GT TSI and Abarth Punto.
