According to a leaked document, Maruti Suzuki has reduced the ex-showroom price of the Baleno RS by Rs. 1 lakh.
Maruti is unlikely to upgrade the 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine to meet BS-VI emission regulations and therefore, the heavy discount could be intended to clear existing stocks.
The Baleno RS uses a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 101 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and 150 Nm @ 1,700-4,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
Last week, Maruti had announced a price cut of Rs. 5,000 on select diesel variants following the reduction in corporate tax by the government of India.
