Mahindra XUV 3XO: First service update including fuel efficiency

There is one thing that's irritating me but otherwise, every time I take the car out it brings a smile to my face.

Update: 1st Service (2000 kms)

The Mahindra 3XO has clocked 2400 kms as I am writing this. I have experienced absolutely no issues as of now. I have seen fellow members experiencing lag with the infotainment. This hasn't happened to me yet. The first service was done 4 days back on Sunday when the odo was at 1999 kms. This was a free service and there were no charges. I declined the underbody paint for which they had quoted 3.5K.

There were two tasks to be performed as recommended by Mahindra though as part of the first service. A software update was performed. I didn't notice any change after the update. The other one was some added protection on the sunroof edges. I had watched a few YouTube videos regarding this so I was aware of the changes. This was my first experience with Mahindra's service center and the experience was kind of acceptable, strictly average. I have been pampered with Ford's excellent after-sales service even now after Ford left India. And Mahindra has a long way to go to reach that level.

Few observations at 2400 kms on the ODO:

  1. The engine has become noticeably smoother. I started to feel the smoothness at around 1800 kms on the odo. The 3 cylinder vibrations have decreased. I took the car to really high speeds and the car feels extremely planted and the steering in sports mode does the job well.
  2. My running has been 90% on highways and 10% in the city. And I only fill the tank with XP95 from IOCL pumps as mentioned in the user manual. I am getting a combined mileage of 14.8 kmpl as displayed on the instrument cluster. I have not done a tank-to-tank measurement yet.
  3. The only thing that is irritating to me is the cruise control. Whenever the cruise control is turned on there is a light in the instrument cluster that lights up to indicate that cruise control is on but there is no way for me to know at what speed the cruise control is set at. I have to wait for the speedometer to be stable at a speed to know. Also if I use set + and set - I have to guess and then wait for the speedometer to be stable at a speed to know if I have set it correctly. There should have been a speed indicator for the cruise control instead of the green light in the instrument cluster.

Overall every time I take the car out, it brings a smile to my face. I don't have a necessity to drive since I work from home completely. I drive to relax myself after work and on weekends and the XUV3XO does proper justice to that. I guess my monthly running is going to be around 2K kms per month going by the usage in the first month. It's a powerful car, good dynamics, great interiors and features so it doesn't give me too much of a heartache when I'm filling the tank with sky-high petrol prices and even higher for the XP95 that I opt for.

I ordered this badge from Boodmo. Belongs to the Thar but I really wanted the mStallion badge. I would have done the same for the mHawk badge had I bought the diesel.

Signing off with a picture of the 3XO on a weekend outing with friends.
