Land Rover Defender production comes to an end

The last ever Land Rover Defender produced was rolled out of JLR's Solihull plant in the UK, on January 25, 2016.

Enthusiasts don't tire swearing by the Defender's capabilities, its go-anywhere ability and its abuse-friendly construction. The Defender is an extension of the very first Land Rover introduced back in 1948. 68 years later, this motoring icon has given in to emission and safety norms and has finally been laid to rest by Land Rover.

Ever since Tata acquired JLR, off-road enthusiasts in India silently wished that the Defender would make its way to the Indian market. The next-gen Defender is expected to be introduced in 2018 with 5 body styles on offer. It remains to be seen whether or not JLR will bring it to India.
