Lamborghini Aventador S unveiled

Lamborghini has unveiled a faster version of the Aventador called the Aventador S. The car gets more power, better dynamics and various cosmetic tweaks, making it look more aggressive compared to its standard sibling.

The Aventador S gets a new bumper with a longer front splitter. Lamborghini claims that this new bumper produces 130% more downforce on the car's nose, thus improving its handling. The car also gets an active rear wing that is movable into three positions. The rear bumper gets a large black diffuser that can also be opted for in carbon fibre.

The Aventador S is based on the same carbon fibre monocoque chassis that underpins the regular Aventador. It gets a new four-wheel steering system, which is a first for any series production Lamborghini. The car also features Lamborghini’s updated pushrod and Lamborghini Magneto-rheological Suspension (LMS), which has now been tuned as per the new four-wheel steering system.

The Aventador S is powered by a 6.5-litre, V12 naturally-aspirated engine, which produces 730 BHP - 40 more than the regular model. Torque output is rated at 690 Nm. The engine is mated to Lamborghini’s Independent Shifting Rod (ISR) 7-speed transmission. The company claims that the car is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, while the top speed is rated at 350 km/h.

In addition to the earlier three driving modes (Strada, Sport and Corsa), the Aventador S also comes with an Ego mode. This is a customisable mode that allows the driver to change the car’s drivetrain and suspension settings as per his requirements.

The interiors of the Aventador S get a new TFT touchscreen display as standard, which is compatible with Apple CarPlay. The Lamborghini telemetry system is offered as an optional extra. This system helps in recording lap times and track performance as well as trip data.

Deliveries of the Aventador S are expected to commence from April 2017.
