KTM 390 Duke recalled in Europe over LED headlamp issue

KTM has issued a recall for the new-gen 390 Duke in Europe. The exercise is aimed at fixing a fault in the bike's LED headlamp. KTM claims that the issue doesn't require a major overhaul and can be fixed just by a software upgrade. The bike's smaller sibling - the 125 Duke, has also been recalled for a similar issue.

Multiple owners of the 390 Duke have complained that the LED headlamps often restart without any reason, even while riding. This can prove to be catastrophic during night rides. Therefore, KTM has issued a preventive recall under which, the affected bikes are being given a software update free of cost.

Interestingly, some early buyers of the 390 Duke in India had complained of a similar issue with their bikes. Media reports suggest that KTM India has found that the said issue was limited to the initial set of bikes delivered to customers. The company claims to have given the required software updates to nearly all the affected bikes. However, if some bikes are still suffering from random restarting of the headlamps, owners can contact any KTM dealership across India and they will be given the software patch to fix the issue.
