Kia has revealed a set of official images, including interior shots of the new Sonet sub-4 meter SUV.
The digital renderings of the exterior show a typical tiger nose grille flanked by LED headlamps and a chunky front bumper. At the rear, the SUV gets slim tail lamps with a light bar. The rear bumper design and flared wheel arches also add to the muscular look. The Sonet gets a blacked-out roof and silver roof rails.
Moving to the interior, the Sonet has a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit that has UVO Connect features and a digital instrument cluster housed within a single floating unit. This setup looks similar to what you get in new Mercedes-Benz models. The driver can also select different drive and traction modes. A two-layer tray has been provided to store mobile devices and other items.
The Sonet will be offered with various active and passive safety features. It will come equipped with up to 6 airbags which include front, side and curtain airbags.
The Kia Sonet shares its platform with the Hyundai Venue. It will also get the same powertrain options as the Venue. It is said that the top-spec GT Line trim will be offered with the 1.0-litre, turbo petrol engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The SUV will also get 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. Kia will also debut the 6-speed iMT transmission featuring an automated clutch in the Sonet.
The SUV will be built in India and exported to multiple markets around the world. The official reveal will take place on August 7, 2020.
