Kia has filed trademarks for eight new electric vehicles in India. These include the names EV1, EV2, EV3, EV4, EV5, EV6, EV7 and EV8.
Kia currently offers the EV6 - the brand's first pure-electric model for the Indian market. It is priced at Rs 60.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
The EV6 comes with a permanent magnet synchronous motor and a 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that is said to offer a maximum range of 528 km (WLTP cycle).
The carmaker is now gearing up to introduce its flagship EV, the EV9 in India. The electric SUV comes with three powertrain options - The EV9 RWD uses a single 215 BHP motor and a 76.1 kWh battery, offering a range of 358 km. The long-range variant uses a 99.8 kWh battery offering 541 km of range. The SUV also comes with a dual-motor setup with a combined output of 380 BHP.
The EV5 is a compact version of the EV9. It is expected to make its global debut next year.
