Jaguar has introduced a new 2.0-litre, four-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine, which will power the 2018 XE, XF and F-Pace. The company claims that this new engine will provide enhanced acceleration figures for all cars.
The new 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol engine develops 296 BHP and 400 Nm of torque, while being mated to a ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic gearbox. The current 2.0-litre petrol engine from Jaguar is available in two states of tune - 197 BHP & 320 Nm and 237 BHP & 340 Nm.
According to the British automaker, this increase in power and torque outputs of the new Ingenium petrol engine has helped the engineers to cut short acceleration times of all three models. With the new engine, the XE sedan has a claimed 0-100 km/h acceleration time from of 5.5 seconds, down from the 6.8 seconds of the current model. Similarly, the 2018 XF sedan will be able to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in a company-claimed time of 5.8 seconds (for the AWD model), while the F-Pace performance SUV will do the same in 6.0 seconds.
The new 2.0L Ingenium petrol engine has already been introduced in the three models in the United Kingdom. Jaguar is expected to introduce the new engine options in the India-spec cars as well by the end of this year.
