Jaguar F-Pace to get a smaller sibling?

Jaguar is gearing up to launch the F-Pace crossover, which will make its debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September this year. However, while the SUV is yet to be revealed, talks of a smaller counterpart have already begun.

A recent report highlighted the possibility of Jaguar developing a premium small car, but the British automaker isn’t ignoring the lucrative crossover segment either. According to the report by Autocar UK, Steven De Ploey, Jaguar’s brand director, has said the company is looking at adding further crossovers to its line-up.

Ploey stated that a family of SUVs has not been confirmed, but is being considered. He added that the company has the tools to build more SUVs, but highlighted the need for the product to be dynamically capable and for it to meet Jaguar’s design standards.

The new SUV is speculated to be a rival for the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class. The model could also warrant the development of a new architecture, since scaling down the F-Pace’s platform comes with its limitations.
