Indian racer Arjun Maini is now Haas F1's development driver

Indian racing driver Arjun Maini has been signed as a development driver by the Haas Formula 1 team. As part of his role as a development driver, Maini will be embedded into the Haas F1 team at every opportunity. He will be attending races and tests with the team and will also participate in Haas' simulator program.

The 19 year old driver is currently participating in the GP3 level for Jenzer Motorsport. Last year, he participated in 14 out of a total of 18 races. Despite missing the first four rounds, Maini managed to finish in 10th position in the overall championship standings. His best result came at the Hungaroring in Budapest where he finished in second position.

Haas F1 is among the newer teams on the Formula 1 grid. It made its debut in 2016 and finished eighth in the constructors title. In the ongoing season, the team has earned 8 points in the first four races, 4 each for Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen. The team is currently in seventh position in the race for the constructors' title. Maini has been signed alongside 18 year old Santino Ferrucci, who has been retained by the team as a development driver.
