Images: Kerala MVD's Tata Nexon EV

In June 2020, we had reported that the Kerala Motor Vehicle Department had ordered 65 Tata Nexon EVs for enforcement duties. Pictures of one of those cars have now surfaced online.

The car is finished in white and gets MVD decals along with 'Road Safety Enforcement' and 'Safe Kerala' stickers on it. The cars are also expected to get speed radars and sirens.

It has been reported that the electric SUVs will be leased out to the Kerala authorities by Energy Efficiency Services Ltd. (EESL).

The Nexon EV uses a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery that powers an electric motor which has an output of 127 BHP and 245 Nm. The company claims that the car can do a 0-100 km/h sprint in 9.9 seconds. The car has an ARAI certified range of 312 km on a single charge. Using a DC fast charger, the batteries can be recharged to 80% of its capacity in 1 hour, while an AC charger takes 8-9 hours to charge to 100%.
