Hyundai ix25 to be called Creta

Hyundai has announced that it will name its upcoming SUV, the "Creta". The company claims that this name is easy to remember and is similar to the word "creative". The vehicle will be known as the Creta all over the world.

The Creta is based on the ix25 compact SUV that was unveiled in China last year. The vehicle is likely to be a challenger for the Renault Duster. It will measure 4.27 metres in length and will have 5 seats and is expected to be powered by the 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines that are found in the Verna sedan. Hyundai is also rumoured to be developing a version of the SUV with a 1.4-litre diesel power plant. This engine is the same unit that is found in the i20 hatchback and the lower variants of the Verna.

Like most Hyundai cars, the Creta is expected to be loaded with features such as a touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, USB and Aux-in connectivity, navigation and reversing camera. Some interior parts are expected to be shared with its siblings.

The global roll-out of the Creta will start in the second half of 2015 in India, followed soon after with sales in world markets.
