Hyundai Ioniq 5 unveiled in India; bookings open

In India, Hyundai will offer the larger battery pack with an ARAI certified range of 631 km and a rear-mounted electric motor.

Hyundai revealed the India-spec Ioniq 5 at an event last night. Bookings for the new EV are now open and customers can place their orders by paying a token amount of Rs 1 lakh.

The Ioniq 5 is based on the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). The car measures 4,635 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, 1,625 mm in height and has a wheelbase is 3,000 mm.

The Ioniq 5 features a futuristic design with angular surfaces on the exterior. It comes with dual LED headlamps with pixelated LED tail lights, flush-fitting door handles and unique dual-tone alloys. The EV gets a minimalistic interior with a dual floating screen and a 2-spoke steering wheel.

Globally, the Ioniq 5 is offered with two battery options: 58 kWh and 72.6 kWh, offering up to 480 km of range (WLTP cycle). The base version is powered by a single electric motor which has an output of 165 BHP and 350 Nm. The dual-motor version packs 298 BHP and 605 Nm and is said to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds.
