Hyundai to increase production of Creta by 25 per cent

Hyundai is planning to increase production of the Creta by 25 per cent in order to meet the high demand for the crossover. The Korean automaker is anticipating a surge in demand in the upcoming festive season, which would further increase its waiting period. This announcement was reportedly made during the launch of the company's latest D-segment sedan - the Elantra.

Some variants of the Creta have a waiting period of around two months. This waiting period has been constant for a few months now, despite the automaker ramping up production to 12,500 units in February, and then to 13,000 units in July.

The Creta was in 11th place in the July 2016 car sales, clocking 7,981 units. It is also the company's third highest selling car, behind the Grand i10 and the Elite i20.

The Creta is exported to around 45 countries, including Africa and Latin America. With Hyundai planning to export the Creta to more international markets in the near future, the increase in production will help in minimizing the gap between supply and demand.
