The Hyundai i30 hatchback has been spotted testing on the outskirts of Chennai. The test car was completely undisguised and was sporting temporary registration plates. The Hyundai i30 is positioned as a premium hatchback in the global market and this particular mule could be on component testing duties.
The third generation Hyundai i30 hatchback made its debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. It shares its platform with the Elantra and it measures 4,340 mm in overall length, 2,039 mm in width and 1,465 mm in height, while its wheelbase is 2,650 mm.
At the front, it features Hyundai's "cascading grille" flanked by wraparound projector headlamps. The bumper has vents on either side with vertical LED DRL strips. The rear of the vehicle features wraparound tail lights, a roof spoiler and a dual-tone bumper. On the inside, the i30 hatchback features a 3-spoke, multi-functional steering wheel and a twin-dial instrument cluster. It gets a dual-tone dashboard with an infotainment system placed on the top of the centre console.
In the global market, the Hyundai offers a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder petrol with 125.7 BHP / 155 Nm of torque, a 1.6-litre, turbocharged petrol engine which produces 201 BHP / 265 Nm, a 2.0-litre petrol with 163 BHP and a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit which makes 95 BHP and 265 Nm of torque. Transmission options available on the i30 hatchback include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
