Hyundai Creta: Production reduced, longer wait for 2 variants

A recent SMS message received from a Hyundai Dealership has confirmed that production has been reduced for the Hyundai Creta. The change is said to be due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

The two Creta variants affected are the 1.5-litre Petrol MT EX and the 1.5-litre Diesel MT E. As a result, the waiting time for the these two variants has increased to a minimum of 6 months, as per the dealer based in Thrissur, Kerala.

As of July 29, 2020, Hyundai claims to have received more than 55,000 bookings for the SUV, which was launched in March 2020.

The 1.5-litre diesel engine is available in 5 variants - E, EX, S, SX and SX(O). This engine produces 113 BHP and 250 Nm and is available with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre petrol engine is available in 3 variants - EX, S and SX. It makes 113 BHP and 144 Nm and comes paired with either a 6-speed manual or CVT. The Creta also comes with a 1.4-litre, turbo petrol engine that makes 138 BHP and 242 Nm. It is only offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The second generation Creta comes with projector headlamps with LED position lamps, front centre arm rest, rear AC vents and height adjustable driver seat as standard across all variants. The EX variant gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit.
