Honda WR-V unveiled at Sao Paulo Motor Show

Honda has globally unveiled the WR-V compact SUV at the 2016 Sao Paulo Motor Show. The WR-V is essentially a crossover SUV based on the Jazz hatchback. According to the official announcement, the moniker 'WR-V' stands for Winsome Runabout Vehicle.

In order to give the car an SUV-look, Honda has added various design characteristics to the WR-V, including a higher ground clearance, beefed up wheel arches, black body cladding, and silver skid plates on the front and rear bumper. The front fascia gets a chrome grille, which is flanked at both sides with new headlamp clusters. The doors and rear fender are similar to the ones found on the Jazz. Meanwhile, the rear gets a different tailgate with the number plate housing now placed on the lower bumper.

On the inside, the dashboard design and seats are a straight lift from the Jazz hatchback. This has been done to keep the development costs of the WR-V in check.

Honda will likely launch the WR-V in India sometime next year. It is expected to be powered by the 1.2-litre petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel engines that currently power the Jazz hatchback.
