Ford Ka+ (Figo Aspire) fails Latin NCAP crash test

The Ford Aspire sold in India was awarded a 3-star rating by Global NCAP.

The Ford Ka+ manufactured in Brazil has scored a 0 star rating in tests conducted by Latin NCAP under its revised protocols. In India, the car is known as the Figo Aspire.

The car scored 13.43 points for adult occupant safety. It offered adequate protection to the driver's head and good protection to the passenger's head. Driver chest showed adequate protection and passenger chest showed good protection. Driver and passenger’s knees showed marginal protection. Driver tibias showed good protection, and passenger’s tibias showed adequate and good protection.

In the side impact test, the head and abdomen protection was good, while pelvis and chest protection was observed to be adequate and weak respectively. The side pole impact test was not performed as the car does not offer side head protection as standard.

The car scored 4.57 points for child occupant safety. The child seat for the 3 year old child was able to prevent excessive forward movement and offered good protection during front and side impact tests. The dynamic performance of the 18 months child restraint was also good for frontal and side impact protection.

The Ka+ was awarded 24.05 points for pedestrian protection and just 3 points for safety assists as the car does not come equipped with Lane support systems, road edge detection, blind spot detection, ESC and Autonomous Emergency Braking.
