Ford Freestyle launched at Rs. 5.09 lakh

Ford has launched the Freestyle - a Figo-based pseudo SUV in India. The Freestyle is available in 4 variants with introductory prices starting at Rs. 5.09 lakh for the petrol variant and Rs. 6.09 lakh for the base diesel trim.

The Ford Freestyle measures 3,954 mm in overall length, 1,737 mm in width and 1,570 mm in height, while its wheelbase is 2,490 mm and ground clearance is 190 mm. The Freestyle has a 257-litre boot and 40 / 42-litre fuel tank.

The Freestyle has a mesh grille finished in black flanked by smoked headlamps. The dual-tone front bumper has a silver scuff plate and C-shaped fog lamp pods. The car has black plastic cladding around the wheel arches and along the doorsills. Further, it has black ORVM housings with integrated turn signals and blacked-out B-pillars. It also has decals on the door panels, silver roof rails and 4-spoke, 15-inch alloy wheels. The rear end features wraparound tail lights, dual-tone bumper and a roof spoiler.

On the inside, the Freestyle gets a dual-tone dashboard with a 3-spoke, multi-functional steering wheel and 3-pod instrument cluster. The centre console houses a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SYNC3, voice control and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It comes with features like automatic climate control, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, keyless entry among others.

The Freestyle is offered with two engine options. The 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine makes 95 BHP @ 6,500 rpm and 120 Nm of torque @ 4,250 rpm. The 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit produces 99 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and a peak torque of 215 Nm @ 1,750-3,000 rpm. Both engines are offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The suspension has been tuned specifically for this car and features a system called Active Rollover Prevention (ARP) that works in conjunction with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) to prevent potential rollover situations.

Safety features like ABS with EBD, front dual airbags and reverse parking sensors are standard on all variants. Rear view camera and side and curtain airbags are offered on select variants.
