Ford Endeavour 2.2L + 4WD variant spotted in India

Youtube user sachin patil spotted the 2015 Ford Endeavour on test near Bijapur, Karnataka. What is interesting here, is that the SUV had a 4WD and a 2.2L badge.

In our 2015 Endeavour Official Preview, we had suggested that Ford might launch the 4x2 variant with the 2.2L engine and a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The 3.2L was likely to come with the 4x4 system and a 6-speed automatic transmission. This sighting suggests that Ford is testing the 4WD with a 2.2L engine.

In Indonesia, the 2015 Endeavour (known as the Everest) comes in this exact same combination (i.e. 2.2L + 4x4) in the base Ambiente trim with a manual gearbox! While we can only speculate as of now, it seems that Ford might have a surprise planned for the Indian market.

The test vehicle sports the 'Endeavour' name engraved in the chrome tailgate applique. It also gets the same LED tail lights, projector headlamps and 18" wheels that we had seen in the Thai-spec variant. Ford India's head honcho, Nigel Harris, suggested in a statement during the Figo hatchback launch that the Endeavour is likely to be launched in India by the year end.
