Fiat Punto Evo Abarth spotted with 5-speed manual gearbox

Fiat is expected to launch the Punto Evo Abarth in India later this year. The car has been spotted testing on numerous occasions. The latest round of spy shots, taken in Himachal Pradesh, reveals that it will get a 5-speed manual transmission.

The Punto Evo Abarth is reported to be powered by a 1.4-litre, turbocharged petrol engine that develops 135 BHP. To distinguish it from the standard Punto Evo, it has been given body graphics, contrasting door mirrors, 16-inch Abarth alloy wheels shod with Apollo 195/55 R16 section tyres and a chrome-tipped exhaust. Other features include disc brakes all round and stiffer suspension than the standard Punto Evo. The interior of the car features aluminium pedals and contrast stitching on the seats.

The Punto Evo Abarth is expected to be locally assembled in India.

The Abarth brand is expected to be introduced in India in August 2015. The 595 Competizione is likely to be the first car to be launched under the brand. An Abarth version of the Avventura crosshatch is also expected to be launched.
