Earlier this year, we had reported that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) had put the launch of the Jeep brand in India on hold. But, there was no clarity as to how long the delay would be before it was brought here.

However, at a presentation made to investors recently, FCA disclosed that it will be bringing Jeep to India in the year 2015. The presentation shows that two models - Wrangler and Grand Cherokee are going to make it to the country in that year. While the Grand Cherokee has been slated for local assembly, the Wrangler will be brought in through the CBU route. All-new versions of the two models will be launched in 2017.

Moving on to 2016, a new C Segment SUV will be introduced into the Indian market. This model will be assembled locally. Globally, it will replace for the Patriot and Compass models.

There is no mention of the Jeep Renegade (a B Segment SUV) in the plans, which leads us to believe that the company might have dropped plans to bring it here.
