In my Swift 2011 (gen 1) K12, I had the itch to install the alloy pedals with a retrofit look. However, every after-market option available had screws & bolts which I wanted to avoid at all costs as this is potentially a major safety concern. Also, the grip directly between the metal surface and the foot would be questionable during the rains.
Thanks to a few teambhp threads by Aston Castelino & LeoShashi, it came to my knowledge that Maruti Suzuki Genuine Sporty Pedals (for clutch & brake) were manufactured for Celerio Sport could be procured from Boodmo. To my dismay, they were not available (not even eligible for back-order) on Boodmo anymore when I discovered. However, I was hell-bent to get the MGP ones retrofitted. I called the MS call centres, shared the part-number etc to figure out which MS dealer (showroom) in Kolkata would still have any old stock. To my surprise, one of the NEXA showroom near my place had 2 pairs left with them. I called the showroom, re-confirmed the availability and zoomed off to get them installed. These pedals comes under Maruti Genuine Accessories, hence even the fitting of the same was free upon purchase. And yes, It's Maruti, they have always been price sensitive (read efficient), I paid only Rs. 272 for the pair (clutch & brake) including everything; cheaper and way better than the after-market ones. I was literally elated.
Now comes the turn for the Accelerator pedal. I tried scraping Google and so many other platforms to find out if Maruti manufactured any sporty or alloy pedal covers for the Accelerator pedal. I was disappointed to find none (atleast based on my research). More so, the stock Accelerator pedal looked bland beside the Sporty pedal covers on the brake and clutch pedals.
I started scouting Boodmo for other OEM sporty pedal covers which might potentially fit mine. I got one or two options available from Mahindra, VW, Tata (maybe) etc. Since, one of my neighbour owns a Scorpio Classic 2019, I requested him to let me check the size and pattern of the Accelerator pedal of the Scorpio. It was a bit bigger and the pattern of the pedal cover was different. The Mahindra one particularly piqued my interest as it was aesthetically pleasing as well as affordably priced at around Rs. 500-700 in 2024 June. Alas, I couldn't go for the Mahindra ones.
The ones from the other OEMs were completely different patterned and made no sense to spare any thought on them. Suddenly, I found one from the VAG (Volkswagen, Audi & Skoda) which appeared to have the same design pattern of the Accelerator pedal of my Swift. However, I was skeptical of the size of the same. Also, the price of the same was hilarious, Rs. 2274/-; however there was a tiny discount of Rs. 200 as it was the last piece available (in stock) on Boodmo from Delhi/TKL seller. Also, I knew that Boodmo allows return & refund without much questions. Hence, I decided to take a punt and placed an order for the same. It got delivered in 3 days. I immediately rushed to my car and tried the size of the same. Voila, it was a perfect fit. Also, the existing black rubber pad on the Accelerator pedal seemed integrated with the pedal. I didn't try to pull it off as the one from VAG fitted perfectly on top of it. I was super satisfied, although the price paid for the Accelerator pedal cover was exorbitant. The Accelerator pedal from the VAG group is still showing as available on Boodmo, however it might probably go into back-order as it shows nothing in the available stock quantity.
Now, to match the grey-silver tone of the interior in my Swift (vxi) , I wanted to replace the Gear knob into a Alloy / Metal one which syncs with the sporty pedals as well as the stock interior. Surfed through multiple after-market options available on Amazon, Flipkart etc and they were very affordable, comfortably sitting in the range of Rs. 500 - Rs. 1000. However, mostly every platform explicitly mentioned that they were first copies (or the User reviews said the same). And, I didn't want to go for the first first copies. Read somewhere, that the weight of the metal knobs can actually alter or improve the gear shifting experience. So I came across one product on Amazon priced at Rs. 3439 and sold by Autodrome from Chennai. Even the packaging in the picture revealed that it was original. Placed the order and got it delivered in 4-5 days. It's was such a proper fit and the shifting felt sweet and crisp. Also, ordered an after-market same designed one (Sparco copy), there was an hell and heaven difference in the weight, rubber moulds and touch-feel between the Sparco Original and Sparco Copy (obviously) !
