Confirmed: Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class reveal on June 17

Mercedes-Benz has released a fresh sketch of the GLC-Class SUV. Additionally, the brand has confirmed that the GLC will make its online debut on June 17, 2015. The GLK replacement bears the new model nomenclature adopted by Mercedes-Benz.

An earlier set of images already showed in adequate detail, what the GLC will look like. As expected, it shares design similarities with the W-205 C-Class. The SUV has a more curvy design than the model it replaces and makes the use of aluminium body-work for weight reduction. The weight reduction will of course translate into improved efficiency figures (estimated to be 19% more fuel efficient than the GLK). The SUV is based on the MRA platform and is expected to share its engine options with the C-Class sedan. Apart from a range of four cylinder diesel and petrol engines, a V6 petrol, a hybrid and a high performance AMG variant are likely to be offered.

Unlike the GLK, the GLC has been designed to cater to right hand drive markets as well. The SUV may see its Indian debut in 2016.
