Chevrolet Cruze facelifted & Sail hatch gets 5 year warranty

General Motors has launched the mildly facelifted Cruze in India. The facelifted Cruze doesn't get any mechanical changes worth noting and the facelift is limited to the cosmetic bits on the outside and a feature addition on the inside. The Cruze is powered by the same 2 liter Z-Series turbo diesel engine that outputs 163 PS-380 Nm, making the car the most powerful sedan in its class. General Motors India sells the Cruze with two transmission options: a 6 speed manual and a 6 speed automatic.

The 2014 Cruze facelift, first seen at the Busan Motor Show in South Korea last year, gets the following changes:

  • New front bumper
  • Redesigned grille
  • New fog lamp housings
  • Redesigned 16 inch alloy wheels
  • 2 Curtain airbags on the LTZ variants

The Cruze is sold in three variants: LT, LTZ and LTZ Automatic. The LT variant gets twin airbags and ABS+EBD as standard while the LTZ variants get two additional airbags. The Cruze competes in the C+ segment of the Indian car market, rubbing shoulders with the likes of the 2013 Skoda Octavia, Volkswagen Jetta, Hyundai Elantra and the Toyota Corolla Altis. The ex-showroom Delhi prices of the facelifted 2014 Chevrolet Cruze are listed below:

  • LT MT: 13.75 lakh rupees
  • LTZ MT: 15.25 lakh rupees
  • LTZ AT: 16.15 lakh rupees

General Motors India has been facing the heat due to the Chevrolet Tavera emissions fiasco and the Sail twins recall. To assure prospective car buyers, General Motors is now offering a 5 year warranty on the Sail hatchback. The Sail hatchback, like the Sail sedan, was recently recalled to correctly fix the crankshaft bolt of the 1.3 liter turbo diesel engine. The 1.2 liter petrol variants of the Sail twins weren't included in the recall.
