Owners of BMW 310 R and GS bikes have reported breakdowns due to faulty batteries. While, initially it was assumed to be a problem in 2018-make bikes, newer bikes from 2019 have also reported the same problem.
In Bangalore alone, 22 owners have come forward and documented this issue. Once a breakdown occurs, the company asks the rider to call the roadside assistance, which then takes the bike to the nearest service centre. The bikes are then kept in under observation for 1-2 weeks. Some of the bikes have had their batteries replaced and yet, the same issue has cropped up after a while.
BMW Motorrad India has given a typical response of looking into it and getting back to the owners. Some of the owners have tried to contact the company HQ and asked them to initiate a ‘battery health check-up campaign’, but the bike maker has rubbed it off as individual cases of breakdowns.
