Earlier this year, BMW recalled 430,000 diesel vehicles in Europe and Asia due to a possible fluid leak issue that could result in a fire. Now, the company is recalling an additional 1.6 million diesel cars worldwide over the same issue.
The recall will cover cars made between 2010-2017 and owners of the affected cars would be called by the company / dealers. There is no word yet if cars sold in India have been affected by this issue.
It is reported that a coolant leak could occur from the exhaust gas recirculation module, which is part of the emissions reduction system. The high temperatures and combination of coolant with soot could lead to a fire.
