BMW India launches M-Performance accessories

BMW India has launched the M-Performance accessories for the 1-Series, 3-Series and 5-Series range of cars. The M-Performance accessories will include both visual and performance enhancement parts, and will be sold and fitted by BMW India dealerships across the country. According to Team-BHPian AdiSinghV12, BMW India is likely to make reveal the entire catalog of the M-Performance parts for its cars sold in India, over the next few days.

While the German car maker has been selling specific M-Performance accessories and body kits through select dealerships in India, the official launch of M-performance parts is likely to result in the wider availability and off-take of these parts. Globally, BMW offers the M-Performance parts for the 1-Series, 3-Series, 5-Series, M3 coupe, X5 and X6. The kits are available in four categories namely, aerodynamics, cockpit, drivetrain and chassis.

Considering the popularity of remaps and tuning boxes among Indian diesel car enthusiasts, the power kit for BMW diesel cars, which includes a completely new remapped ECU, and that boosts both power and torque might be a hot seller. It must be noted that the power kit for the diesel engined BMW car models comes with an enhanced cooling system to handle the additional power and torque, and also a new air intake system.

Also, BMW owners opting for the power kit/M-Performance accessories stand to retain their official warranty coverage. Apart from high performance accessories sold under the M-Performance badge, BMW's M tuning division sells a range of high performance cars. The M-badged BMW cars sold in India are the M3 convertible and M5 sedan. Both the high performance cars are imported into India through the completely built unit (CBU) route.

The high performance BMW cars with the M badge compete with the AMG range sold by Mercedes Benz and the S/RS range sold by Audi. Internationally, BMW also sells high performance M versions of diesel engined cars, giving it an unique distinction among its competitors. The M badged diesel engined BMWs include the M 550d sedan, the X5 M50d and the X6 M50d crossovers. These cars are powered by a 3 liter-6 cylinder, triple turbo diesel engine.
