Audi TT "Offroad" concept could be christened the TTQ

Over the past 2 years, Audi revealed multiple concepts based on the TT. After revealing creations like the TT Sportback and TT Allroad, the designers at Ingolstadt presented the TT Offroad concept. According to a recent report by Car magazine, the TT Offroad concept will make its debut in 2017 and could be christened the TTQ in its production avatar.

The crossover will be an extension of the Audi TT Coupe and will fit into Audi's SUV expansion plans. The TTQ will be a shift in Audi's nomenclature, though it seems the German car maker has no choice, but to improvise. Fiat has the rights to the Q2 and Q4 names and Audi's only other choice would be to facilitate an expensive deal with the Italian automaker.

The TTQ is the approved remnant of other rejected concepts that Audi showcased over the past 2 years. The Sportback and Allroad concepts were rejected because of the poor cabin space they offered. The TTQ on the other hand will be similar to the Q3 in terms of dimensions, but will feature a coupe like sloping roofline to make it appear more distinctive. The relationship shared between the Q3 and TTQ will be similar to that of the BMW X3 and X4.
