Audi India has imported one unit of the SQ7 for homologation purpose. Last year the company had brought the car to India for testing (click here to read report).
The SQ7 has a 4.0-litre, V8 diesel engine that produces close to 435 BHP and 900 Nm of torque. The car has three turbochargers - two are conventional exhaust driven units, out of which one is for light acceleration and cruising, while the second one is for times when there is a big load on the engine. The third one is a first-of-its-kind electrically driven turbocharger. Audi claims that the combined efforts of the three turbos will result in no turbo-lag. The car is claimed to do the 0-100 kph sprint in less than 5 seconds.
On the outside, there isn't much of a difference as compared to the new Q7, except for some aluminium inserts, the SQ7 badging and quad exhaust pipes instead of dual exhaust pipes.
Currently the Q7 is available in India with a 3.0 TDI engine making 245 BHP. The SQ7 is expected to be launched in India soon.
