Aprilia's new 150cc scooter, the SR 150, has been spotted at the company's dealership in Pune. Reports claim that the scooter was spotted before it was taken for homologation to ARAI's facility in Chakan. The SR 150 is expected to launch in August this year.
Aprilia showcased the SR 150 at the 2016 Auto Expo, and pegged it as India's first "sport-scooterbike". Once launched, the SR 150 will be Aprilia's second scooter in the Indian market, after the larger Aprilia SRV 850 ABS. Interestingly, the new scooter will be manufactured at Piaggio's production facility in Baramati, Maharashtra. This makes it the first product by the Italian manufacturer to be produced in India. The domestic production also promises a relatively affordable price tag for the Aprilia SR 150.
In terms of design, the headlight assembly comprises of twin-headlamps that are placed on the scooter's front apron, while the turn indicators are located at the handlebar. The 14-inch black alloys give it a squat stance.
The sport-scooterbike is powered by a 150 cc air-cooled engine that produces 11.4 BHP @ 7000 rpm, and a peak torque of 11.5 Nm @ 5500 rpm. This is the same engine that powers the Vespa 150.
Prices of the Aprilia SR 150 are expected to start at around Rs. 90,000 (ex-showroom).
