Aprilia has revealed that it is considering the introduction of 300-400 cc motorcycles in India. These products are likely to take at least 2-3 years to be readied for launch in the country. The details of these products have not been revealed.
At the launch of the Vespa Racing Sixties edition scooters, the company confirmed that it will not be venturing into the 125-150 cc motorcycle segment. It will instead consider entering the sub-400 cc which consists of bikes like the KTM 390 Duke, Adventure and RC390 and TVS Apache RR 310. The company claimed that the Indian market is more accepting of products in the 300-400 cc segment.
Aprilia had displayed the RS 150 and Tuono 150 motorbikes at the Auto Expo 2018. This lead to people believing that these bikes would be launched in the country. There were rumours that the launch would happen in February 2020 at the Auto Expo, but it did not take place. With this announcement, we can safely assume that the above mentioned bikes will not be coming to India.
For its new motorcycles, Aprilia could use the CKD route, which should help in keeping their prices low.
