Android Auto and Map upgrades are now available for Maruti Suzuki's older SmartPlay infotainment systems, that didn't come with Android Auto in the first place. While the Maruti Ignis and Dzire, which also use the SmartPlay infotainment system, were launched with Android Auto connectivity feature, older vehicles with the SmartPlay system, including the Ciaz, S-Cross, Baleno and Vitara Brezza, did not have Android Auto bundled with the system from day 1.
However, Maruti now appears to have introduced a software update that will add Android Auto connectivity in the older SmartPlay infotainment system. Owners can contact their nearest Maruti service centre and ask for the update.
In addition to Android Auto, there is also a new update for the maps of older SmartPlay systems, which will upgrade the navigation system to its 2017 version. The update is of 2.5 GB and will be valid until 2020.
