9th-gen Toyota Camry spotted testing in India for the first time

The latest iteration of the Toyota Camry made its debut in November last year

Looks like Toyota is gearing up to launch the ninth-generation Camry in India. The car was recently spotted testing on the outskirts of Pune for the first time.

The latest iteration of the Toyota Camry made its debut in November last year. It is based on the TNGA-K platform and is only available with a hybrid powertrain.

The new Camry is powered by a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol hybrid paired with an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (eCVT). The front-wheel drive version gets two electric motors with a combined output of 222 BHP. The all-wheel drive version gets an additional motor-generator on the rear axle, bumping the overall output to 229 BHP.

The new Camry borrows design cues from the Toyota Crown. It has a large trapezoidal grille with sleek U-shaped LED headlamps and a shark nose section.

Inside, the Camry gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, while higher variants get 12.3-inch displays and a 10-inch head-up display. Other features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, a 9-speaker JBL audio system and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 - essentially an ADAS suite.
