Hyundai has trademarked the Alcazar name in India.
As per the document, the trademark was filed on April 13, 2020 and is proposed to be used for a sports utility vehicle. This has raised speculations on whether the upcoming 7-seat version of the Creta could be called Alcazar.
Test mules of the 7-seat Creta were spotted in South Korea earlier this year. The SUV is likely to get a different grille and tail lamps with C-shaped brake lights. The test car was also equipped with twin exhausts similar to that of the new 5-seater Creta.
The 7-seater Creta could be offered with same engine options as the 5-seat version. It is expected to compete with likes of the Mahindra XUV500 and the upcoming MG Hector Plus and Tata Gravitas.
