The 2025 Toyota 4Runner is the SUV's sixth-generation iteration and comes 15 years after the 5th-gen model

Toyota has taken the wraps off its new-generation 4Runner. The 2025 Toyota 4Runner is the SUV's sixth-generation iteration and comes 15 years after the 5th-gen model was first introduced.

The new 4Runner comes with a complete refresh compared to its previous iteration. This includes a new architecture, a new crop of engine & transmission options and a revamped design. Starting off with the exterior, the 6th-gen 4Runner features a front-end design similar to the Toyota Tacoma. The 4Runner also gets prominent fender flares housing massive off-road tyres. The new Toyota 4Runner now comes with a wheelbase that matches the likes of the Land Cruiser and the Lexus GX550. Apart from the standard variant, Toyota will also offer the 4Runner in a TRD Pro and Trailhunter trims.

Moving inside, the 6th-gen Toyota 4Runner seems to have a dashboard almost identical to the Tacoma. This includes the instrument cluster, central stack of buttons, switches and knobs and even the 4WD transfer case. The 4Runner gets a 14-inch central touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, along with plenty of other on-road and off-road equipment and driver-assist systems.

The 6th-gen Toyota 4Runner is offered with a 2.4-litre i-Force turbocharged 4-cylinder unit producing 278 BHP and 430 Nm. There is also a 2.4-litre i-Force Max 4Runner Hybrid with the electric motor sandwiched between the engine and transmission, taking its total power output to 326 BHP and 630 Nm. Both engines come paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
