According to a media report, the fifth generation Honda City will be offered with a new 1.5-litre petrol engine (L15B) with a dual overhead cam setup.
The new engine is said to be based on a new architecture. It is also said to have a wider power band than the outgoing 1.5-litre SOHC engine. The engine produces 119 BHP and around 155 Nm of torque. In comparison, the old engine produced 117 BHP and 145 Nm of torque. Rumours suggest that the new motor makes more power at lower engine speeds.
The L15B engine that powers the City in some international markets also gets Variable Timing Control (VTC) and i-VTEC. The engine also has larger intake and exhaust valves, while the crankshaft is 25% lighter. Honda has also made some changes that are said to help with engine cooling.
