2nd-gen Maruti Ertiga leaked ahead of debut

Suzuki is gearing up to launch the second-gen Ertiga MPV in the Indonesian market but images of the car have already leaked online. 

The new Ertiga is reportedly larger in proportions than the outgoing model. It is 99 mm longer and 40 mm wider but retains its 2,740 mm wheelbase. The ground clearance of the Indonesia-spec Ertiga is 180 mm compared to the Indian version's 185 mm. With the third row of seats up, it offers 153-litres of luggage space. Fuel tank capacity is 45-litres.

The front end features a new grille with chrome strips flanked by restyled headlamp clusters with projector lights. The front bumper is new and features a redesigned air dam and triangular fog lamp pods. Moving to the side, the MPV has chrome door handles and body-coloured ORVMs with integrated turn signals. The vehicle has a larger rear quarter glass that merges into the rear windshield. The B and C-pillars have been blacked out. In the rear, the Ertiga has a set of new L-shaped tail lights. It has a slightly raked rear windshield and a new tailgate with a chrome garnish. The rear bumper has been redesigned as well. 

On the inside, the new Ertiga has a dual-tone dashboard with a centrally mounted 6.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The dashboard has a stepped design with air-conditioning vents that blend into the slatted trim on the passenger side. The Ertiga appears to have the same 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel as the new Swift and Dzire. Also, it has a twin-pod instrument cluster with an MID in the centre.

In the Indonesian market, the Ertiga will be offered with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that develops 103 BHP and is paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or 4-speed automatic. Suzuki claims that the automatic version returns a mileage of 16.73 km/l. The car rides on similarly sized rims and tyres as the outgoing model. It comes with 15-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels that are shod with 185/65 section tyres.

The Suzuki Ertiga will make its official debut at the 2018 Indonesia International Motor Show in Jakarta on April 19, 2018. Maruti is expected to launch it in India later this year.
