2nd-Gen Audi Q5 launched at Rs. 53.25 lakh

Audi has launched the second-generation Q5 in India. The Q5 is available in two variants - Technology and Premium Plus priced at Rs. 53.25 lakh and Rs. 57.60 lakh (ex-showroom, India) respectively.

The Audi Q5 is based on the MLB Evo platform. It measures 4,663 mm in length and is 1,893 mm wide and 1,659 mm tall. The wheelbase is 2,819 mm and the kerb weight of the SUV is 1,990 kg. Fuel tank capacity is 70 litres.

The Q5 features a single-frame chrome grille flanked by LED headlights with integrated LED DRLs. In side profile, the new model looks almost identical to the previous generation. The rear features wraparound LED tail lights and dynamic turn signals. The rear bumper has been redesigned and now features a silver scuff plate and integrated twin-chrome exhaust tips.

Inside, the Q5 comes with a redesigned dual-tone dashboard with an 8.3-inch floating touchscreen infotainment screen in the centre. It features a three-spoke, multi-functional steering wheel with chrome trim and Audi Virtual Cockpit - a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Audi's MMI touchpad has been placed in between the front seats. The car comes with navigation, 3-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging, electric seats with memory function for driver seat along with 4-way lumbar support and three-way split rear seat with adjustable seat back angle. It also has a power tailgate.

The Q5 is powered by a 1,968 cc, 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 188 BHP @ 3,800-4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 400 Nm @ 1,750-3,000 rpm. It is offered with a 7-speed automatic gearbox and Quattro all-wheel drive system. Drivers can choose from 5 driving modes, which includes a new off-road mode. Audi claims, the Q5 will do 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and has top speed of 218 km/h. The ARAI claimed fuel efficiency is 17.01 km/l.

The SUV rides on a new 5-link suspension setup with adaptive dampers and 18-inch aluminium alloy wheels. In terms of safety features, the Q5 comes with 8 airbags, ABS, EBD, electronic stability control (ESC) among others.
