2nd-gen Audi Q5 to be launched on January 18, 2018

Audi will launch the second-generation Q5 on January 18, 2018. Earlier this month, the upcoming SUV was spotted at a dealer yard in Pune suggesting that the launch was imminent.

The second-generation Audi Q5 made its debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. It is based on the MLB evo platform. The new model comes with updated interiors as well as refreshed exterior styling. At the front, the new Q5 gets a large, hexagonal grille with a chrome frame. The new LED headlights appear to merge into the grille. In side profile, the new Q5 looks identical to the outgoing model. It gets a prominent crease along the sides and a coupe-like roofline. The rear features restyled LED tail lights and a new bumper with integrated quad exhaust tips.

Inside, the new Q5 gets a slightly redesigned dashboard with a 3-spoke steering wheel and Audi’s Virtual Cockpit - which replaces conventional dials with a 12.3-inch TFT display. In addition to that, the centre console houses a floating touchscreen infotainment screen and a touch pad interface.

Audi is yet to confirm the engine that will power the new Q5 in India. That said, the new model could be offered with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine paired with a 7-speed S tronic gearbox and Quattro all-wheel drive. The current generation Q5 comes with a similar 2.0-litre diesel unit which produces 174 BHP @ 4,200 rpm and 380 Nm of torque @ 1,750-2,500 rpm.
